Frederick Leroy Hurley Scholarship for Boys and Male Students

Taking Effective Action, Inc., Founding Board Member, Frederick Leroy Hurley, successful candidates in college and private school will each be awarded $700 for books (College students) and $400 for books (Private school students) The book scholarships or to support their academic journey to becoming professionals.

Please complete this brief application form to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarship awardees will be contacted via email.

Eligibility

1. The applicant must have a graduating cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher.
2. Be able to confirm active membership at Love AME Church or Partner Church or have a parent/guardian that has been a confirmed active member for one (1) or more years.
3. Be enrolled and/or accepted for enrollment in a private school or institution of higher learning on a full-time basis.
4. Submit a completed application for consideration by the deadline. (No exceptions)

Incomplete applications will not be processed. The scholarship committee reserves the right to verify all information contained in this application. All information received is personal and confidential.

Application deadline: Friday, june 26, 2026 (11:59 p.M.)
Completed applications must include the following:

1. Proof and of membership of Love AME Church or Partner Church (certificate of membership ofstudent or parent. Note: membership will be validated via Love AME Church membership system to ensure that your records are meeting the scholarship criteria.
2. For K- H students, one report card and for High School students or one official school transcript.
3. Two (2) letters of recommendation*
   a. One (1) letter must be from a Love AME Church leader (ministry or other).
   b. One (1) letter should be from outside the church (school, community, etc.)
   *Please do not ask the Pastor for a letter of recommendation.
4. A school or professional photograph.
5. A letter of acceptance or proof of enrollment in the school you will be attending.
6. Copies of awards and recognition for outstanding academics, community service, sports or other activities (optional).
